What does that tell me? "Marker for bugs waiting on fix from upstream software vendor.". And why is that useful? Because it is very likely to get out of date [18:28:30] for 'documentation' it could be interesting for new users to get started, but then it's useless to tag a bug 'Document labsdb replication set up' [18:28:56] it means the task is most likely blocked but without any way to express that through the normal phabricator fields [18:29:25] and what does that give us what 'stalled' plus a comment doesn't? [18:30:04] stalled doesn't mean it's blocked upstream, I don't think you can filter against comments like that [18:30:54] I can't think of a use case for filtering specifically for 'upstream' [18:31:37] same for 'documentation', unless it's used as 'easy' is used now [18:31:59] what's worse is that if you create a subtask, all tags get added to that, so now a subtask is suddenly also marked 'upstream' [18:33:29] only if the user screws up in the subtask creation form [18:34:22] if by 'screw up' you mean 'keep the standards', yes. [18:35:27] screw up = not get rid of projects that don't apply to the subtask [18:36:10] if somebody wants to work on documentation (didn't we have sumana doing that?) it's useful for such person to have a chance to find tasks related to documentation [18:37:07] upstream has a workboard which gives some overview of what is the status/progress [18:38:29] subtasks of upstream can logically be mostly upstream again (i can't imagine a usecase of subtask of upstream which wouldn't be upstream, so if you have any in mind, pls let me know, thanks) [18:38:52] The upstream workboard sounds useful [18:39:17] wrt subtasks: typically a task has both an upsteam and a local component, and someone might split off that local component to a subtask [18:39:49] maybe there should formally be a new 'supertask' in that case, but I don't think people typically care enough for that [18:40:06] of course now there is bunch of stuff in backlog. i aven't got there yet... i'm first trying to make an order by properly marking tasks so then it's possible to reasonably work with workboards and dependencies [18:41:50] and for the record: such batch edits wouldn't be necessary if care was taken continuously... [18:46:28] rule number one of software development is 'if the user is not doing what you think the user should be doing it's not the users' fault' :-p [18:47:23] but we are not developpers of phab :-P [19:57:57] Is there a way for me to remove myself as a reviewer of a differential patch? I'm not seeing an obvious link in the gui. [20:12:45] bd808: Under "Edit revision" you can remove yourself. [20:12:51] I don't think that's terribly intuitive though [20:13:44] ostriches: awesome. thanks [20:13:53] yw [20:32:42] Danny_B: I can think of such an issue. "Use a built-in X rather than our Y hack" as a sub-task of "Phabricator should support X". [20:38:30] andre__afk, did you see https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T134651#2295679 ?
