[00:11:46] Is it a problem to have both origin/master and gerrit/master when using gerrit? [00:12:05] following Git/Tutorial and using gerrit, I've wound up with origin/master and gerrit/master. In .git/config the remote "origin" url = https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/... , while the remote "gerrit" url = ssh://spage@gerrit.wikimedia.org:29418/mediawiki [00:12:37] spagewmf: Yeah that's fine [00:12:47] It's weird but there are no ill effects [00:13:01] I can only push changes to gerrit/master, pushing to origin/master results in "fatal: Authentication failed" [00:13:48] RoanKattouw I guess local git isn't aware they're the same thing [00:15:01] Yeah that's right [00:15:23] You can't push to origin because you can't auth over ssh [00:15:27] Ah, sorry [00:15:29] You can't auth over https [00:15:42] https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/settings/http-password [00:17:10] :O [00:17:22] I stand corrected [00:19:35] Reedy, that worked! I can push either way. I'm not sure where best to document that git review always uses remote "gerrit" and day-ty-day fetch/pull/merge uses remote "origin" , but they're effectively the same thing. [04:09:37] spagewmf: you can set git-review to use a different remote than "gerrit" [04:09:47] there have been more than a few list threads about this [04:09:53] talk to hashar maybe? iirc [04:09:58] or search the archives ;) [04:11:56] jeremyb I can live with how it works. If phabricator or whatever takes off, it might even be a win that the gerrit review remote is different from the origin tree [04:12:18] hah [04:12:28] i've never even tried git-review fwiw [04:12:35] i'm happy with plain old git [17:19:37] If anyone is interested, Sue Gardner is doing office hours in #wikimedia-office about 15-20 minutes.
