[22:05:34] NFS is still acting up. I'm going to restart the host in a minute. [22:26:32] legoktm, do you think stewards will need flow-create-board for global renames? https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T126229 [22:28:03] matt_flaschen: global rename was designed so that it would bypass all permission checks, it doesn't call MovePage::checkPermissions() for example [22:28:56] legoktm, okay, thanks. :) [22:29:13] so whatever the process of moving flow boards is, it should make sure that it uses the right MovePage hooks that allow global rename to bypass permission checks [22:30:38] legoktm, we use MovePageIsValidMove and AbortMove. [22:30:58] I'll check if that should work. [22:31:36] IsValidMove is for extensions to indicate whether the move is technically possible [22:31:40] permission checks should use the MovePageCheckPermissions hook [22:32:02] AbortMove was removed in 1.24 I think [22:33:34] Okay, I'll decline and file a task. [22:34:12] Those both also should be documented on-wiki in addition to docs/hooks.txt [22:35:17] legoktm, I think blocking NS_TOPIC moves qualifies as a technical reason, though. [22:48:32] etonkovidova, I think you can use the undo link in wikitext history pages. [22:49:32] matt_flaschen: hmm... I'd like to receive 'your edits are reverted' from Flow pages - so far I do not see them [22:49:48] matt_flaschen: was wondering if it's actually possible [22:50:33] etonkovidova, it's not. [22:50:35] You can't get revert notifs from Flow [22:50:47] And yes, standard revert notifs come from either rollback or undo [22:50:47] on wikitext pages [22:50:49] (both talk and articles) [22:51:12] RoanKattouw_away: ok then - thx! [22:55:00] Thanks [22:55:53] bd808, marxarelli, have you ever seen Vagrant hang on "Mounting NFS shared folders"? [22:55:56] Not sure what the issue is [22:56:08] matt_flaschen: # VAGRANT-BEGIN: 502 a86c6abf-0a48-4c42-b0a8-6ba768a318ed "/Users/etonkovidova/Documents/gerrit/vagrant" 10.11.12.13 -alldirs -mapall=502:20 [22:56:23] I removed /etc/exports . [22:57:21] I've seen that before on OSX. I finally gave up on NFS and turned it off with `vagrant config nfs_shares off` [22:57:34] I've had other NFS problems (e.g. file writes randomly failing the first time), but not this I don't think. [22:57:47] marxarelli, bd808, did you notice a performance difference? [22:58:01] maybe? [22:58:18] we certainly benchmarked a difference when we made it the default [22:58:18] there's definitely a performance difference [22:58:25] not as bad with virtualbox 5 though [22:58:32] they made some improvements to vboxsf perf [22:58:51] I'm still on 4.3.36. [22:58:52] the stability is worth it imo [22:59:14] Okay, so NFS is still faster. I'll fight with it a little longer, then if it still doesn't work switch back to VBox. [22:59:23] matt_flaschen: are you running on Linux of some flavor? [22:59:26] matt_flaschen: it's worth a try, easy to undo if it doesn't perform well enough [22:59:37] bd808, yes, Debian Jessie. [23:00:11] was going to say try the lxc provider but i don't think it works on jessie yet [23:00:13] oh.. if you wiped /etc/exports completely your nfs server probably isn't starting [23:00:16] bd808: ? [23:00:37] bd808, no, vagrant regenerated it as promised. [23:00:56] did the nfs server pick that up and start though? [23:01:01] try restarting nfs-common as well as nfs-kernel-server [23:01:06] bd808, I think I restarted it. [23:01:06] I've seen problems with that on jessie [23:01:11] marxarelli, oh, I didn't think to restart common. [23:01:18] I'll restart both then reload --provision [23:01:56] I do have an LXC power instance running on a debian testing laptop so that's possible [23:02:06] but LXC needs nfs [23:02:30] I never have fiugred out how to get native shares to work (permissions issues) [23:02:32] Thanks marxarelli, I think common did it. It's working now, I'll keep an eye on it, and will switch to VBoxSF if this becomes a recurring problem. [23:03:05] my testing+LXC instance is way way way faster than Vbox on my OSX laptop [23:03:06] bd808: oh really? i should mess around with it [23:03:26] i've been tooling with lxc bind mounts on my home server with mostly success [23:03:58] matt_flaschen: oh awesome [23:04:03] there are instructions for Jessie in the README and this almost there patch for Labs -- https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/245920/ [23:11:03] 3Collaboration-Team-Current, 10Notifications, 5Patch-For-Review, 5WMF-deploy-2016-02-02_(1.27.0-wmf.12), 7user-notice: Add excerpt of edit summary to reverted notification - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T121808#2013279 (10Etonkovidova) Checked in betalabs.
