[13:04:31] <lucaswerkmeister>	 context: in https://gitlab.wikimedia.org/repos/m3api/ I have several group-wide protected variables which are needed to run CI in the individual projects; if I push some WIP to a non-main branch, CI will be broken until I remember to add a rule to protect that branch
[13:04:52] <lucaswerkmeister>	 so I’m wondering if I shouldn’t just save myself some time and add a rule protecting the `*` branch pattern ^^
[13:05:28] <lucaswerkmeister>	 would there be any downside to that? the repos don’t have any contributors with different access levels at the moment (though at some point hopefully they will 😇)
[13:08:28] <jelto>	 lucaswerkmeister: I mostly restrict this jobs with special secrets to protected branches only. So only when on a protected branch, this job will get executed.
