I think high profile launches CAN be an exciting thing for our community IF managed correctly [20:54:47] I don't think there's a lot to study tbh. It was largely uneventful. [20:54:58] The CVT queue got a few account creation help requests [20:55:37] Pool counter kicking into effect was unintended but I think worked perfectly and because no cache was used badly by the wiki itself [20:55:45] Not a lot really to gain at a farm level [21:00:50] if anything we just need to take a quick look for technical issues like that [21:01:33] I don't think there's anything to look at with pool counter [21:01:44] It worked perfectly and as designed as far as I can tell [21:01:46] really funny how the servers lasted through the spike admirably but get absolutely dunked when test doesn't have caching [21:01:56] i meant for issues like bad use of nocache [21:02:21] We can't really prevent wikis doing every possible less than ideal thing [21:02:27] That's why defence in depth is a thing [21:03:41] absolutely, and we don't have to, but I feel like it's in our best interest to ensure they have a smooth launch [21:03:55] if the server tells you to get bent it reflects more on us than them [21:04:33] I mean I don't think we were asked or anyone expected us to performance review their main page [21:04:53] Nor do I think that's realistic [21:05:30] in fairness they did ask me for some pointers but I never thought of checking for silliness like that [21:07:09] So it goes.
