[02:00:31] guys, does ripcord still work with Discord? It says token not yet tested [02:07:59] oh, discord patched it [12:45:20] [1/2] \@ anyone who used [MassProtect]() on Fandom wikis, does anyone know whether Comment protection settings actually did anything on modern wikis? [12:45:21] [2/2] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/615786602454581249/1455179884979818629/image.png?ex=6953c960&is=695277e0&hm=646f7177dd84b781f1d8292601eb2bd026a6c131c6e33026544d5154c8a278ba& [12:49:20] I'm defo thinking that it was a legacy feature back when Wikia Comments were still saved as separate MediaWiki pages. Modern Fandom wikis use a non-MediaWiki system for their comments+discussions, so this should no longer apply. [13:30:30] I'm pretty sure that bit controls whether comments are available on pages no? Since Fandoms comments are toggled through MediaWiki protection system. [13:30:32] you could protect pages to stop anyone from commenting on them [13:30:56] (IE there's a checkbox on every page in the editor where you control whether comments are allowed for that page) [13:30:59] I don't know if the script worked but the option existed [13:32:30] Damn, that's crazy (was never a mod on Fandom so I never know) [13:33:04] they showed up in the protection logs [13:33:48] Unless I wanted to repurpose that dropdown to work with Extension:Comments (honestly seem to be more trouble than it's worth) I'm prolly better off just removing it [13:34:13] yeah makes sense [13:34:48] with commentstreams protecting pages is just mass editing the pages to add a no commenting tag, I assume Comments is similar [13:35:39] and even then if you go on an old revision with comments available then you can still comment on the page [15:32:06] [1/2] Fairly esoteric question but does anyone know a good template to structure all the things that appear in a piece of media? Star Wars has one but it’s clunky to adapt to other wikis [15:32:06] [2/2] https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Template:App [15:46:55] Which part of the template do you find the most helpful? The collapse toggle? The ability to jump to a section? Or organizing several sections with a single template? [15:51:05] Latter two. Don't need a collapse toggle. [18:49:22] [1/2] General code question but is there an (easy) way to make a list in notepad++, spreadsheets or similar programs that just strips away all text that isn't in these quotation marks or the name/b field? [18:49:22] [2/2] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/615786602454581249/1455271495382335649/image.png?ex=69541eb2&is=6952cd32&hm=6bc2e42ff858c475a69bb165cf115d03a574691b511caf89ac520fa3240fa955& [19:00:19] regexes usually [19:00:24] or vim motions [19:02:26] `^]>]>/span([^<])/b.$` -> `$1` [19:02:48] that will work for some of them [19:03:08] for others try messing around with https://regex101.com/ [19:03:33] I figured it out just now but thanks! [19:10:07] [1/2] https://dev.miraheze.org/wiki/User:PetraMagna/sandbox [19:10:07] [2/2] Then something like this would suffice? [19:10:30] All you need is two loops. One for the titles and the other for the content. The rest is CSS. [19:10:45] Thank you so much [19:11:31] Admittedly it uses https://dev.miraheze.org/wiki/Module:Loops syntax which is not very easy to understand, but same could be said of Extension:Loops...
