[00:16:55] hello all. I would like to authenticate requests from a user script to a Toolforge tool. I don't think OAuth is suitable for this purpose. [00:17:46] Another user (Ed6767 on enwiki) has suggested generating a random string, storing it in a cookie, saving a single edit with the hash of the string, and then sending the string up with every request (the server would then check it). Seems fine to me, although it sounds a bit like reinventing the wheel [00:17:50] Any better ideas?
