[14:27:39] woohoo https://sfconservancy.org/news/2019/apr/02/vmware-no-appeal/ [14:56:42] hello there [14:57:05] Pageview API gives "not found" for April 1st, 2019 [14:57:06] https://wikimedia.org/api/rest_v1/metrics/pageviews/top/tr.wikipedia/all-access/2019/04/01 [14:57:28] superyetkin: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T219842 [14:59:29] basically there was an outage and now they're working to fix the jobs that didn't run [15:01:26] musikanimal: thanks, habricator seems to be down as well [15:01:35] Technical Advice IRC meeting starting in 60 minutes in channel #wikimedia-tech, hosts: @CFisch_WMDE & @zeljkof - all questions welcome, more infos: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Technical_Advice_IRC_Meeting [15:08:49] o.O [15:09:36] It's not Wednesday [15:10:47] eh, no, phabricator is fine for me [15:10:48] seems wm-bot is confused [15:11:04] Its never a bad day to have a tech advice meeting! [15:11:51] 24/7 tech advice meeting on 20 channels :) [15:12:12] :-D [15:50:44] Technical Advice IRC meeting starting in 10 minutes in channel #wikimedia-tech, hosts: @CFisch_WMDE & @zeljkof - all questions welcome, more infos: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Technical_Advice_IRC_Meeting [16:49:24] I've noticed that my en-wikipedia watch list is not marking diffs as read when I check them. [16:49:58] Does anyone know if anyone else is having this problem or if a phabricator ticket has been filed? [17:12:01] sario528, not sure, does the mark all as read button work? [17:13:14] yes [17:14:15] Going to a diff, or even just the article, does not change the read status on the watch list [17:15:45] sario528, at this point given no one is responding, I'd file a ticket. [17:17:42] And now the behavior is being inconstant. I'm going to do some experimenting first [17:18:38] Good luck [17:20:59] sario528: is it possible that it does happen, but it may take a few minutes? [17:21:27] I'll add that to my list of things to check [17:26:56] sario528: looking at the code, there seems to be a lot going on there. There are several layers of caching, plus asynchronous updating of the database. [17:27:13] that's a lot of places where something can go wrong, and also a lot of places that can obscure and delay errors. [17:28:03] Yeah, I figured it was a fairly complex bit of coding [17:28:51] AaronSchulz is probably the expert [17:29:30] he's not in here, but seems to be online. [17:29:56] I'm thinking now that is may just be some sever side delay. The problems seem to come and go [17:31:23] And I just thought about it, my work's firewall could also be part of the problem [17:32:10] Thanks anyways guys. If I get consistent issues, I'll file at Phab. Until then I'll just deal [17:36:04] duesen and sario528: there's already a ticket [17:36:09] let me find the number [17:36:25] T218511 [17:36:26] T218511: After opening a diff, entry on Special:Watchlist sometimes stays unread (bold) - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T218511 [17:39:11] Thanks Fish [17:47:19] np [17:47:56] so this is an open meeting for any tech questions? [17:49:34] No, those are on Wednesday [17:49:49] The bot that posted that announcement got confused [17:50:00] But you can ask and we might be able to answer. :-) [17:50:05] But you can still ask questions [17:57:48] I have a question. I’m in an IRC channel, and one of the bots is acting up. Any idea why? [17:58:03] Which bot? [17:59:21] wm-bot [18:01:26] (thatsthejoke.jpg) [18:30:12] McJill: ba dum pssshhh.... (btw I don't get it.) [18:31:48] okay i'll ask a question. yes it turns out i asked, to ask. awesome. okay. so what is wikimedia tech doing to integrate any updates in citation based technology? are there any citation based tech updates like to cite.php or whatever? we have projects like WikiCite that want to move citations to a shared database at wikidata, or otherwise unify them across the whole wikipedia wiki [18:32:14] did i ask a good question? did i do good? [18:54:45] i had a tool which someone made for me on wmflabs.org [18:54:50] it currently is not working [18:55:05] might there be a specific reason for this? thank you. [18:55:14] which tool? and how is it not working? [18:55:15] https://tools.wmflabs.org/shortnames/ [18:55:25] it just gives an error message [18:56:05] No webservice [18:56:05] The URI you have requested, /shortnames/, is not currently serviced [18:56:24] Same for me, just tried it. [18:56:36] it’s listed on https://tools.wmflabs.org/trusty-tools/ [18:56:43] so presumably it was never migrated from Trusty to Stretch [18:56:54] see https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/News/Toolforge_Trusty_deprecation [18:58:48] unfortunately, you're very far up the learning curve from me [18:59:01] there's a reason i specified that someone else made the tool for me [18:59:45] can it be migrated from trusty to stretch, or, alternately, remade on stretch? [19:00:11] ('on' or 'in' or whichever term is appropriate) [19:05:31] Why is the picture missing from https://tools.wmflabs.org/admin/? No mention on T218606 but that's fixed it [19:05:32] T218606: Poor rendering on tools.wmflabs.org - https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T218606 [19:11:31] Dragonfly6-7: the migration shouldn’t be too difficult, but someone with access to the tool needs to do it [19:12:51] if the original person who did it is no longer around, someone else could request to usurp the tool https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Toolforge/Abandoned_tool_policy [19:13:28] thank you [19:14:26] Image is back and so is my issue on tools.wmflabs/admin page (see above)
