[04:09:22] Hey, does anyone know: When you reset your password, does that terminate all other active login sessions? [04:13:35] Nvm. Going to bed. If anyone knows the answer, please message me. [13:05:32] How to speed up the use of importdump.php to import the database [15:33:18] 如何从XML导入我到我的数据库,XML来源于https://dumps.wikimedia.org [15:33:28] How do I import from XML to my database from https://dumps.wikimedia.org [15:41:07] Hello? [15:41:46] Who can help me solve the problem ? [15:43:24] I want to import data from the https://dumps.wikimedia.org/ backup to my database, but I don't know how to quickly import data into my database. [15:43:50] zhwiki: It's probably easier to use a database dump: https://dumps.wikimedia.org/backup-index-bydb.html [15:45:58] Matthew_: I have backed up to my server and are looking for ways to import my database. [15:46:28] Uhm, then I don't know. I'm sorry [15:47:27] Matthew_: I wonder how you can find a developer or an administrator [15:49:00] Hm... Maybe try #mediawiki ? That channel is often dead as well, so don't expect a quick answer though. [15:59:44] thx [17:03:45] hello. i was here yesterday to ask this question, but wound up going to bed: when you reset your password, does that terminate all other logged-in sessions? [17:09:36] i think just logging in can terminate existing sessions elsewhere [17:12:33] Really? [17:14:16] Just tried logging in from Incognito while already logged in on my browser. The sessions are running concurrently [17:14:35] try different machine [17:15:54] AFAIK, nothing like that terminates any sessions [17:17:00] Not even the password reset? [17:17:51] Nope [17:18:18] Shit. Is there *any* way to force other sessions to terminate? [17:18:53] We have a script to do it [17:19:17] Is that something y'all can do on request? [17:19:34] Possibly, if we can confirm who you are to the account [17:19:40] Otherwise people could just request it ot be dickish [17:20:05] I still have access. Would a post on your talk page be sufficient? [17:20:47] in the mobile view, Wikipedia has started showing a selection of "related articles", not necessarily connected by links or categories - does someone know where that feature is documented? [17:21:31] It's an extension [17:21:57] and what determines what pages are related to a given one? [17:22:07] it's not in the wiki code, for all I can tell [17:22:45] https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:RelatedArticles [17:22:58] It's done in text [17:23:48] {{#related:Test with read more}} [17:23:48] {{#related:Another test page}} [17:24:47] no it isn't - " Related articles will be determined algorithmically based on Cirrus Search" [17:25:25] Well, it also says straight after that "Alternatively, you can manually add related articles like so:" [17:25:55] yes, but that's rarely done [17:25:59] Reedy: it is not done in text in Wikipedia, they are autosuggestions. [17:26:15] Meh [17:26:18] It could be [17:26:25] Doesn't mean that it isn't always [17:26:41] They are usually done in text in Wikivoyage, but it is not the practice to add related articles in WP. [17:27:14] https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Reading/Web/Projects/Related_pages [17:27:48] So Reedy, should I go ahead and ping you onwiki? [17:28:04] It was a beta feature for desktop site for quite the time, but they turned it off :-/ [17:45:08] PinkAmpersand: Sure, I'll take that as enough to do that for you [17:49:00] {{done}} [17:55:02] Let's see if airport lounge wifi will get me onto teh servers [17:55:55] Heh. Thanks [17:58:32] That should've done it on enwiki [17:58:38] Next question is how well that works with CA [17:59:51] Hmm [18:00:23] reedy@tin:~$ mwscript invalidateUserSessions.php --wiki=enwiki --user=PinkAmpersand [18:00:23] Invalidated sessions for user PinkAmpersand [18:01:23] Well the only other wiki I have any advanced rights on is Wikidata. So I guess if you did that too, that would basically cover everywhere important [18:01:46] (Oh, I guess I've got sysop on testwiki and testwikidatawiki, FWIW) [18:02:00] I do wonder if we've got a bug about this [18:02:16] About terminating for all wikis instead of one? [18:02:52] Well, the original issue [18:03:06] Resetting a password should probably push out a few sessions [18:03:07] Ah, my password not working without explanation? [18:03:15] Oh. Yeah. That. [18:03:35] Unfortunately, my internet is iffy I can't really phab search atm [18:03:45] I'm planning on filing a bug about what happened with my password, if no one at VPT can explain it, at least [18:04:02] Maybe just do it anyway [18:04:35] I was guessing you'd left yourself logged in somewhere you didn't want to be, and reset your password as a precaution [18:04:51] Nope. It just bounced with no explanation [18:06:42] My understanding is there's only three ways that can happen: 1) Someone changed it from within my account settings, which wouldn't have sent an email (which in itself seems like a bug); 2) Someone clicked the "forgot your password?" link, which *would* have sent an email, but none arrived; 3) A sysadmin reset it, which would only happen after a security [18:06:43] breach, for which I would have gotten an email. [18:07:36] For the first, they'd have needed to know your current password? [18:07:44] Oh, I guess, technically, 4) I somehow edited the saved password in my password manager without knowing it. (It was a random string of characters I didn't know.) [18:08:07] I don't think it's no 3) [18:08:21] No 2) would only be possible if they'd managed to change your email first [18:08:25] If someone somehow got on a session of Chrome I'd been using, they would have been able to autopopulate the old password on the reset form [18:09:03] And yeah, I very much doubt it's #3 either. Just listing everything that's hypothetically possible. [18:09:51] And yeah, my email's fine. No log of it being accessed from any location I don't recognize. And I did reset its password as well, just to be safe. [18:10:17] So that leaves #1, #4, and the implicit #5, which is that it's a bug [18:12:01] And with #1, the obvious question would be why they didn't do any damage. They could have changed my email to lock me out for good, but they didn't. And I have template editor access. They could have put up a dick pic on every article on Wikipedia if they'd wanted. So the hack/crack angle seems unlikely
