[10:45:29] A wonderful Saturday to everyone [10:45:49] What happend to translation on Meta today? Does not work for me. [10:48:25] Hi! [10:48:41] It had the same issue for me, but then everything came back to normal. [10:48:49] Hi stjn. Does translation work for you on Meta right now? [10:48:55] Yes. [10:49:43] strange [10:50:41] language settings are not clickable for me, neither in Firefox nor Google Chrome [10:51:00] There's been some JS errors [10:51:03] Force refresh the page [10:51:18] same thing after F5 [10:51:39] Needs more than F5 [10:51:53] Windows: ctrl + F5 [10:51:53] Mac/Apple: Apple + R or command + R [10:51:53] Linux: F5 [10:52:55] ctrl + F5 same result. Clicking on language setting just puts a "#" behind the url, but does not do anything else. [10:53:02] https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T165213 [10:54:03] closed as resolved, but still not working for me [10:54:16] Very likely because of your browser cache [10:55:35] emptied my cache, no change. Chrome I was not using for 2 weeks. [10:56:25] I will restart Firefox now and then translate everything off-wiki and then put it on de.wikipedia, not on Meta. [11:02:49] Yeah, I can report of the same error which Gereon has. [11:03:21] Probably geoIP is referenced somewhere, I don’t know. [11:04:16] Or the overzealous MediaWiki cache strikes again. [16:10:36] Hello all, a loveley Saturday. [16:11:22] I still cannot change my language settings on Meta. Translation does not work either. This morning I saw a Phabricator ticket that was closed, solved. But apparently it's not. [16:36:22] wb stjn [16:36:56] @stjn , I still cannot change my language settings on Meta :-( [16:37:20] It works fine for me [16:37:34] Just changed it en-gb -> en -> en-gb [16:37:35] Yeah, I currently have the same problem here, GereonK https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Translate&group=page-Strategy%2FWikimedia+movement%2F2017%2FCycle+1%2FReport&action=page&filter=&language=ru [16:37:38] Which still suggests it's something cached on your browser [16:37:53] Still shows ‘Uncaught Error: Unknown dependency: mw.geoIP’, although it might be cache. [16:38:06] I don't see that [16:38:14] (I haven’t found any pages in mediawiki: which reference that) [16:38:23] One of your gadgets? [16:38:41] *enabled [16:38:56] I see a "Geolocation feature for Support and Safety resource pages to ensure users see the most relevant information first." [16:39:02] Wouldn't surprise me if that uses geoip [16:39:26] Yeah, I’ll check if disabling it helps. [16:39:29] Seemingly not [16:39:29] https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Gadget-susaresources.js [16:39:53] Hm. [16:40:07] I'd suggest trying to disable all your extensions [16:40:29] Nah, I guess, it’s just extensive cache of MediaWiki. [16:40:45] I don't think JS should be caching that log [16:40:46] *long [16:40:49] Something must’ve rebuild because problem isn’t appearing anymore after changing the preferences. [16:41:13] Or, which is more probable, gadget-definition has dependency of geoIP. [16:41:28] Hm. [16:41:35] Nope. I guess cache. [16:42:32] I cleared all my Caches, removed all my cookies and passwords and history, set everything back to default, restarted the computer, still the same problem. [16:42:56] Try disabling the gadget Reedy talks about. [16:45:00] which one, geoIP? [16:45:21] Try enabling / disabling any gadget, for instance. [16:45:35] (find Hot Cat, for example) [16:46:41] If that doesn’t help, remove specifically ‘Geolocation feature for Support and Safety resource pages to ensure users see the most relevant information first.’ [16:47:40] It isn’t even referencing GeoIP, but for some reason it bugs out Translate interface for me. [16:48:13] If turning it on again, causes it to break... I'd suggest filing a bug in phab or something so someone looks at it [16:49:04] Wow, turned off all gadgets and interfaces. Now it works! [16:49:39] I will turn them on again 1 by 1 and see which one disables changing language preferences. [16:50:34] please :) [16:57:07] I singly actived every single gadget and interface now, saving, then ctrl+F5. Now works all the time [16:57:22] heh [16:57:26] So I cannot replicate the problem. [16:57:27] Something cached somewhere [16:57:30] Well, at least it's fixed [16:57:33] That's the main thing [16:57:53] Back to Strategy work then (until Eurovision). Thank you so much, Reedy and stjn [16:58:11] No Eurovision for you, stjn :-( [16:58:48] Lol. Add to Strategy channel please, I’ll answer that, here it is an offtopic a bit :–D [17:00:06] Another time. Bye all. [18:35:12] Hi all, in last few days I have a problem with wikitext editor. From time to time the editor just don't load. I know two other users who reported this issue to me recently (to be more exact: today, so it is very recent problem). I have the 2017 editor enabled and I have problem only when creating new page (when the old editor was loading instead). The error message is "The editor would now load. If you still see this message after a [18:35:13] few of seconds, please reload the page" (I'm translating the message myself from Czech to English so it probably isn't the exact message). Do we know about this issue? Should I fill a task at phab? [18:41:35] Since I can’t ask it anywhere else, is the yellow background for Board election banner a supposed feature? [18:42:30] I get that it maybe is saying that it is urgent to vote, but every time I see that banner I think that something’s wrong with translation. [21:47:03] stjn: the banner is designed to have a disturbing appearance, I think. See also https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2017/Board_of_Trustees#Grey_on_grey_logo
