[01:08:24] I bumped that XML dumps task. [04:47:30] Nemo_bis: based on timestamps, https://tools.wmflabs.org/dump-torrents/arwiki/20170101/ took ~25 min to create .torrent files for that entire page [05:18:35] Good morning [05:40:12] legoktm: ok. So it will take days for enwiki I guess? [05:46:51] Nemo_bis: maybe/probably. it's currently processing all the wikis in alphabetical order right now [05:52:59] Yvette: https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/xmldatadumps-l/2017-January/001359.html [05:59:07] Nemo_bis: Nice. [05:59:09] Thanks. [13:47:10] I am asking for my colleges who wish for something that (to my knowledge) no other wiki (Wikimedia or otherwise) has. [13:47:10] They want a third NAMESPACE connected to NS-0 and NS-1 so that there are three tabs that function as one. Thus, when the third gets edited, anyone who follows NS-0 and NS-1 receive a notice just like when NS-1 is edited you'll be notified when following NS-0. In short: Follow NS-0 youøll be following NS-0, NS-1 and NS-X. [13:47:10] The reason is: an article is for articles, discussionpages for discussions, and other stuff, like Project templates, worksheets, Milestones, etc, (like on EN.WP) should not be on those pages. So The Danish Wikipedia has voted and the templates have to be removed. The solution they ask for is a third "tab" (a new NAMESPACE). I doubt that that is possible and [13:47:10] I have never seen it. I know that there is a Wiki that uses a duo-language tab (for latin/cyrillic) But I guess that that is javabased as well as all the other options I have see. The reason is also to categorise these articles without interfearing NS-0 and NS-1. [13:47:10] . [13:47:10] I hope it is clear what I want to ask from you guys: Is there a way to add and connect a new NS to NS-0 and NS-1 ? [13:59:04] Rodejong: i think there's an extension or two that allows that [13:59:34] really? [13:59:50] Could you point out which? [13:59:58] as soon as i find it [14:00:19] ;) okay thanks. I'll be waiting patiently :) [14:00:59] Rodejong: there's also some JS script on wikinews that kind of does this. e.g. https://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Bellerín_extends_Arsenal_contract has an extra "Opinions" tab [14:01:27] Rodejong: the extension i was thinking of is https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:NamespaceRelations [14:02:19] Rodejong: the latin/cyrillic tabs are actually a feature of mediawiki, specifically for language variant conversion [14:02:45] I had not seen this. [14:03:22] Is that something I could ask you to install, if a vote seems to bare consensus? Or should we install it our selves? [14:04:29] the wikinews thing is just a script that is stored somewhere on the wiki. i don't really know how it's implemented though. someone from there could probably help you copy it to danish wikipedia [14:04:51] the extension doesn't seem to be deployed anywhere on wikimedia wikis yet, so it would need to go through security review first and that could take time :( [14:05:07] https://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Beller%C3%ADn_extends_Arsenal_contract doesn'tdo it [14:05:38] If I check to follow the 3rd tab, it doesn't add the other tabs to the follow list [14:12:10] hmmm that is a shame. But I'll ask the guys if a delay in executing the remove of all the templates could be possible, untill it is possible to install that extension. Where should we file for an install for DAWP? [14:12:33] And by the way, thanks for helping MatmaRex [14:15:04] Rodejong: hm, file a request in phabricator i guess? see https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requesting_wiki_configuration_changes [14:15:49] Ok, I'll be doing that if we vote for this option [14:16:24] Rodejong: by the way, that seems to work for me on wikinews, actually? on https://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Comments:Bellerín_extends_Arsenal_contract , i still see the three tabs (Article, Collaboration, Opinions). [14:18:33] yeah, but https://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Beller%C3%ADn_extends_Arsenal_contract isn't checked then [19:45:01] Nemo_bis: it died on chwikimedia... [19:45:08] tools.dump-torrents@tools-bastion-02:~$ cat /public/dumps/public/chwikimedia/latest/chwikimedia-latest-image.sql.gz [19:45:08] cat: /public/dumps/public/chwikimedia/latest/chwikimedia-latest-image.sql.gz: Permission denied [19:46:20] fun [20:00:59] MySQL wants to jumble this up: (SELECT ORDER BY J) UNION ALL (SELECT ORDER BY J) Ideas? [20:21:56] i have a question. [20:22:15] the extension download link on extension homepage on mediawiki is not the latest [20:22:47] latest commit compared to phabricator page [20:24:49] Harri_: which download link? [20:25:04] bd808: https://wikimania2017.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wikimania - I assume there are no other steps for getting a language enabled? [20:25:26] legoktm: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:StlHandler [20:25:45] Harri_: I mean, which download link are you clicking on? [20:25:53] under installation [20:26:17] do you mean https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:ExtensionDistributor/StlHandler ? [20:26:32] oh yeah [20:26:37] there's the master option [20:26:43] use "master" [20:26:44] but when are they synced? [20:27:31] legoktm: yeah. I hide some of the languages from translatewiki if it looks like they have stale data in them, but otherwise we use whatever is there at the point where we do a deployment. [20:27:41] there isn't any auto-update mechanism [20:28:08] Harri_: what do you mean? [20:28:44] i mean, when is the latest dev version becoming the default one to download [20:29:31] there are branches, REL1_28, REL1_27, etc. when the new 1.29 release is branched, extension branches pointing to REL1_29 will be created from master. [20:30:10] * legoktm bbl [20:31:02] legoktm: Oh! I wonder if they are asking something completely different. It looks like Tulu is missing from the "Primary language community on wiki" list [20:33:01] okay. so if i sync master as REL_28 it should be the default?
