[12:41:35] anomie: you here? I have a question about Special:Tags. What will it take to give AF and TE permissions to add or edit tags and have pages tagged. For example... I'd like to be able to have all OneClickArchiver edits tagged as such (to save edit summary space). [12:58:37] T13|mobile: To apply a tag along with API action=edit, the user just needs the 'applychangetags' right. To apply it later with action=tag, the user need the 'changetags' right instead. Either way, someone with the 'managechangetags' right (i.e. an admin) would need to first create the tag on Special:Tags or with API action=managetags. [13:01:19] What I'm asking is what it would take for AFEs and TEs to get managechangetags. RfC on WT:AF? WT:TE? WP:VPR? Request in phab (since there has been no discussion about who should get what on wiki yet anyways)? [13:06:20] T13|mobile: Why do they need to be creating tags? But if you insist, https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requesting_wiki_configuration_changes [13:17:13] Who typically is more likely to write userscripts that would make best use of tags? People with technical knowledge? Those people are more likely to be TEs and/or AFs, or at least I would think. Alternatively, maybe a new usergroup for technical editors that write userscripts/gadgets/whatnot?
