[19:46:19] Duh, it's a snail. [19:46:43] Oh wait, he's only called so in Holland.... :/ [19:47:48] @sjoerddebruin so I guess it's a European problem? [19:48:08] Idk, just talking rubbish here. [19:49:09] what's the point? break the silence? [19:50:03] I mean Gerrit is damn slow [19:50:23] Jagwar: some people really dislike waiting more than 30 seconds for an answer on IRC, so sjoerddebruin is being helpful :) [19:50:31] sjoerddebruin: lento come una lumaca is certainly valid [19:50:41] Just see me like waiting music. [19:50:51] But I agree, gerrit is slow [19:50:55] so slow that dl-ing it almost broke my computer xD [19:51:08] Jagwar: you downloaded the whole gerrit? :) [19:51:18] What's the specific URL or command you used? [19:51:34] Sometimes people find that either HTTPS or SSH is (randomly) faster [19:51:39] @Nemo_bis I just tried to DL the latest pywikibot version for an update [19:51:57] Ok, try and switch protocol. Yes, it's silly. [19:52:06] I was using "git clone --recursive https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/pywikibot/core.git" [19:52:56] I ran it on a Raspberry pi and it corrupted the whole system [19:53:36] it's a pretty large repository [19:53:46] @Nemo_bis I'm giving it another shot [19:55:05] @legoktm how large is the latest version? [19:56:27] What's the difference between "git clone" and "git fetch"? [19:57:02] I mean, they both download things [19:58:41] clone makes a repository, sets up a remote and pulls from it, IIRC [19:59:32] fetch just downloads objects and stores them locally, not touching your own branches or working dir [20:00:17] So with git clone, do you need to sign in to github or the git place? [20:00:31] I don't get it :P [20:00:35] depends whether you can clone it anonymously or not [20:00:40] I'm not a git person really [20:01:00] I usually just do 'git fetch' when messing with git files [20:01:55] @Bsadowski1 I am not a git person either [20:02:17] the "git clone" thing is written on the Pywikibot manual [20:02:28] git fetch should work though [20:02:34] * Bsadowski1 shrugs [20:02:50] sure it should [20:03:49] well my poor little RPi has crashed again :/ [20:04:22] I think i'll give up on this git thing and move onto a faster repository [20:04:43] lol [20:09:32] I'm done downloading a pywikibot version on github through SVN [20:09:43] not sure if it's an up to date version though [20:11:40] Jagwar: Which Raspberry Pi do you have? [20:12:20] I'm using a Raspberry Pi 2 [20:13:15] Ah nice [20:13:44] yeah and it's pretty fast [20:18:04] Ok the Github version seems to be up-to-date [20:19:00] it's a shame to have gerrit this slow though [20:20:32] I'm late, I've got to go [20:21:30] have a nice day :)
