My tool page doesn't work anymore : https://tools.wmflabs.org/wpcleaner/ gives a 502 Bad gateway [17:00:35] How can I start it again ? [17:01:21] I've connected to tools-login, and I see the lighthttpd job working [17:02:53] qstat -xml [17:03:05] [17:03:06] r [17:03:08] Hi NicoV, you should be able to run webservice restart [17:03:45] *after you become your tools user [17:03:56] Restarting webservice...............ERROR: Pod resisted shutdown [17:04:35] I became "wpcleaner" before [17:05:51] try to restart again nicov [17:06:07] Yes ! it worked [17:06:47] Last question : is there anyway to automatically restart the webservice when such problem occurs ? (it's the second time it happened) [17:08:34] it should hypothetically restart when the service goes down..both for gridengine and kubernetes backends [17:10:50] yes, but the service was marked as up (state: r), so it wasn't going to restart by itself. Last time, the problem was identical [17:14:23] NicoV: the wpcleaner tool is using the grid engine backend. The Kubernetes backend is a bit more stable for making sure restarts happen and that the webservice stays connected to the front proxy. [17:15:02] if you are only using a single language runtime (PHP for example) then it is likely that you can move to using the Kubernetes backend [17:16:37] NicoV: is the webservice for wpcleaner just used to provide download links for the java jar files and other config things? [17:17:23] if so that should be easy to move to Kubernetes -- `webservice stop; webservice --backend=kubernetes php7.2 start` should do it. [17:29:07] Thanks bd808, I will try to move to kubernetes, as it's just serving the download links [20:09:53] andrewbogott: how do I request access to an abandoned tool? [20:11:17] Cyberpower678: all I know is https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Toolforge/Abandoned_tool_policy [20:13:40] Ah right. [20:13:52] zhuyifei1999_: should be able to help me with that then. :-) [20:14:12] I guess I should start by notifying the original mainainer. [20:14:22] Hello all [20:14:44] is the esams bastion up and doing ok ? [20:14:58] i'm not able to connect to him [20:15:33] my account is fully configured, since i've been working on him for almost three weeks now [20:18:51] Hi gabrieloli01001 I'm not familiar with an esams bastion host. What hostname do you use to connect to that host? [20:21:27] There's only an esams bastion for production [20:21:31] ala bast3002.wikimedia.org [20:24:55] * bd808 wonders why anyone with an ip at a university in Brazil would be asking about esams bastions [20:25:30] * bd808 also wonders why the bastion was gendered [20:26:12] the latter might be due to translation :) [20:27:09] yeah, that's fair. My Portuguese lessons are messing with my head a lot. Gendering is all over the place in romance languages and it hurts. [20:27:54] gendered articles, gendered verbs, gendered adverbs [21:30:48] Cyberpower678: yeah notify the original maintainer first [21:44:13] zhuyifei1999_: done. Emailed and messaged on enwiki and Wikitech [21:44:43] ok, if they don't respond after two weeks you can file a ticket
