[02:30:57] !help Hello, Amitie 10g here. I'm an issue regarding external links and arguments in the URI (use of "?" and "&). In the page w:es: [02:30:57] Amitie_10g: If you don't get a response in 15-30 minutes, please create a phabricator task -- https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/task/edit/form/1/?projects=wmcs-team [02:32:18] Amitie_10g: I'm not sure I understand. Is that a cloud services issue? [02:33:17] Let me see. [02:33:34] When is actually related to MediaWiki. [02:35:10] Yep, I'llask in the right channel. [02:35:32] This channel is more geared towards issues arround cloud services, especially the use of !help but if you explain a bit more perhaps I can help. [02:35:52] Also, I have another question related to my tool running in ToolForge, and MariaDB [02:36:16] Shoot. [02:36:38] Regarding the external links, what was the issue? [02:37:41] I noticed that when sending a large query (INSER INTO statement with hundred of rows), the connection is closed. My tool uses PHP, PDO to connect and runs under HHVM [02:39:08] So the question is related to the memory limit or timeout for the connection to the MariaDB server. [02:39:47] I'd recommend a task to track that issue. [02:39:59] The logs reported that the server closed the connection. [02:40:02] Whm [02:40:34] Should be a good idea to report. [02:40:58] Lots of variables in that, it'd be ideal to have error handling (and perhaps retries) in the application logic to deal with the issues [02:41:39] While it may be memory, it doesn't seem like it is to me. [02:42:32] However, I changed the code to use INSERT INTO only one row at once in each iteration, and fixed the issue. So, could this cause more issues (sending hundred of queries to the server) than solution? [02:43:05] * chicocvenancio is not the best person for db questions [02:43:43] Id probably batch them in smaller quantities, and have retries [02:44:51] Relying on toolsdb steady performance is a loosing proposition. You should expect it to fluctuate in response time, ans have logic to deal with that [02:52:36] Well, I'll still finding ways to optimise my bot. [09:44:40] chicocvenancio: sounds great [11:08:38] Could anyone please tell me how could I request a NoSQL database account on Toolsforge? [11:11:13] acagastya: NoSQL? which NoSQl specifically? [11:11:39] Hopefully MongoDB. [11:12:37] I don't think we have MongoDB installed on toolforge [11:15:03] Well I can request that on Phab, right? Or is there any NoSQL db on toolsforge? [11:15:47] I am more comfortable with NoSQL than MariaDB. [11:16:45] Also, before that; I lost my keys when my laptop died. I can update the keys from Wikitech, right? [11:19:09] we have Redis [11:19:35] I don't know if there is any else [11:20:14] yes you can request on phab, but it could take forever to actually 'resolve' it [11:21:07] Redis. Hm. I haven’t spent enough time with it. Mongo Compass would not work with it, no? [11:21:35] Do you know any users who frequently use redis? [11:21:55] me :) [11:24:01] Well, so how do query it? Is there any software like MongoDB Compass? [11:25:30] redis-cli -h tools-redis [11:26:27] I want to create a collection for reliable sources, which even noobs can query. (Well, not a super noob) [11:26:58] in redis there's no access control [11:27:12] But editors who don’t necessarily have access to toolsforge. [11:27:57] Well, now I guess I would have to spend some time learning redis before trying it on toolsforge. [11:28:49] for those without access to toolforge I guess you could make a webservice for that [11:34:58] Guess I will have to: because I almost managed to forget that I will have to query the db from my cellphone and sometimes from someone else’s systems.
