[11:27:13] hi [11:27:50] so whats the big dddeal aboiut minf im not seeing iti yet [20:52:25] Hi, is there a list of things that should be in Wikidata or that should not be in there? Like products sold by super markets or ever movie or book or such things? [21:19:48] duco_: Wikidata items should be notable, unique, and able to be linked to other items. If your data can link to other items on Wikidata, it is probably a good fit. If you find data that's too specific or particular, it may not be a good fit for Wikidata. [21:51:19] SothoTalKer, thanks for answering and sorry for my late response, everything is linkable to other items. A single tree somewhere in the wood can be linked as is https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q146149 or what kind of tree it is. unique is hard to say, it's a unique thing. If you cut it down another tree can grow, but it is not the same. It is unique as people are unique and people are mentioned. So the main thing themes to be notable, what is very [21:51:19] subjective. So I am still not sure. Did I understood that rules correct? Or did I miss, what linkable or unique means? [21:54:34] Notability is one criterium, which must be true. The hurdles are a bit lower than on the wikipedia sites, though [21:55:34] movies and books are items that fit into wikidata perfectly fine [21:56:58] products sold by supermarkets are a bit more difficult matter [21:59:11] Okay, nice, so at least I can add books and movies, if I find some missing. [22:00:54] duco_: there are a lot missing :-) [22:02:14] but adding books and other media the proper way can be quite hard [22:03:14] there is this: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:WikiProject_Books [22:03:15] products would be nice for money apps where you register what you are buying but that would be a lot of data. That's why I asked. Maybe I find another open Database that holds those kind of information. [22:04:04] there is (or was) https://product-open-data.com/ [22:04:32] Oh, thanks a lot. Why "was"? [22:05:14] it does not look like it gets updated [22:08:06] for food things you can use https://world.openfoodfacts.org/ [22:10:58] Thanks. As Movies, Books and such things are very similar, wouldn't it be helpful to have a specific input mask for them with the most important fields already existing ready to enter the data? I think some open street map apps do such things so you don't have to look up the keys. [22:12:16] it should be possible to fill fields semi-automatically from trusted sources, but i don't know if such a tool already exists [22:13:15] there is mix'n'match: https://tools.wmflabs.org/mix-n-match/#/group/books [22:15:21] I thought more about a special form to input the data where you already have a field for author, title, publisher, ... [22:17:10] not really, no. there is Recoin though: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Recoin [22:24:15] I'll try Recoin =) Thanks [22:26:03] it will show you what is missing on top, then you can add from there what you like [22:26:20] it automatically reloads then, i think [22:26:33] but i havent edited a lot for a while :)
