I am trying to create an ontology in my wiki. I have classes like user, contact, person with different templates and forms. I am not sure if I am just not seeing it, but is there an easy way to do this in smw? [15:11:12] I could create Templates for all those classes and just create forms for users that produce wikitext like {{User|....}} {{Person|...}} [15:11:29] but that means I have to copy and paste a lot of code [15:12:25] the nicest thing would be to create Template/Form:Person first, then create Template/Form:User which just "embeds" Template/Form:Person and adds some own fields [15:22:20] Hello, I want to update my wiki to the latest versidon from 1.17.1 - i may want to do this on a fresh install, how difficult would it be to transfer over my exisiting articles and semantic properties? [15:24:56] you could just dump/restore the database [15:25:07] why do you want to make a fresh install? [15:25:59] sven^: The current site is kind of running slow and buggy and I want to take my time developing the new system as im 1 person so i was going to create a staging site [15:26:42] Would i have to recreate all my forms again? [15:27:22] if you restore the whole database, no [15:27:22] but I am not sure if that solves your problem [15:28:05] it would be nice to keep the same db as i have a ton of content already created but im nervous if i do that it may break some tables on the exisiting site just by upgrading the mw version [15:28:14] so im assuming i should copy current db and rename [15:28:23] and synch new mw with copied db and install smw? [15:31:07] if you just follow the mw/smw upgrade guide you'll have backups of all data that might get screwed up. [15:31:15] you can reinstall if things go south [16:05:16] New review: Yaron Koren; "Well, this is a more compelling argument: that the "ListTemplate" approach is sort of a hack that al..." [23:16:46] Hi JeroenDeDauw, does display_map add a 'pointer' only after a certain version? [23:19:47] I'm defining an address in a template called address, and I want to use that address in another template on the same page... any tips? [23:20:05] i.e. should I store the property, or use variables? [23:20:25] dbolser: ooh, that's weird... [23:20:35] yaron: it's probably an issue of geocoding service [23:20:42] Could be. [23:20:52] when I explicitly geocode, I set the geocode service explicitly [23:21:01] not sure how to do that with the implicit version [23:21:06] Ah. [23:21:31] For the other question, either way would work, I would think. [23:21:42] yaron: do you know the answer to teh question directed at Jeroen? [23:21:46] oh... what's that? [23:21:56] oh, right [23:22:01] how to pass around the addr [23:22:25] I just dont want to render the map in the actual address template... although that's prolly fine... [23:29:30] dbolser: what do you mean by a "pointer"? [23:29:38] right, setting address= and geoservice=google ... both maps give the same location [23:29:54] yaron: on my map, it just shows the place, without a place marker [23:30:08] on the version on smw.org, it shows a typical google pointer there [23:32:16] What call are you making? [23:32:47] {{#display_map:{{#geocode:New york}}}} [23:32:50] {{#display_map:{{#geocode:New york}}}} [23:32:55] {{#display_map:{{#geocode:New york}}}} [23:32:59] doh, sorry [23:33:03] http://seqanswers.com/w/index.php?title=Test&action=submit [23:33:19] wow, paste fail! [23:33:24] http://seqanswers.com/wiki/Test [23:33:28] no 'marker' [23:33:57] I wonder if this is a version thing [23:34:07] nm, it's not important [23:34:47] Yes, #display_map used to just show a map - for your version, you probably need to use #display_point or something. [23:35:03] right [23:35:19] bingo! [23:35:23] many thanks yaron ! [23:38:15] Sure.
