[12:30:25] Dantman: Did you get my response on https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43360 [13:08:46] New patchset: Mwjames; "Merge branch 'parserhook/re-naming' into 1.9.x-feature" [mediawiki/extensions/SemanticMediaWiki] (1.9.x-feature) - https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/55047 [13:24:31] Good morning Yaron - watching now - who's speaking? [13:28:39] jdpond: hi; it's Clay Shirky, from NYU/ITP. [13:29:32] Did you catch patch to bug last night https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43360 [13:30:41] I saw the emails, but I don't have time to look into any of it right now. [13:35:29] New review: Mwjames; "What is this now, the whole idea is that I don't need to merge sruff into the master but only merge ..." [mediawiki/extensions/SemanticMediaWiki] (1.9.x-feature) - https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/55047 [13:40:47] New patchset: Mwjames; "ParserHook re-naming to keep commit history" [mediawiki/extensions/SemanticMediaWiki] (1.9.x-feature) - https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/55053 [13:42:36] Change abandoned: Mwjames; "Something went wrong here ..." [mediawiki/extensions/SemanticMediaWiki] (1.9.x-feature) - https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/55053 [14:22:22] New patchset: Shirayuki; "Fix typo "useful"" [mediawiki/extensions/SemanticMaps] (master) - https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/55061 [14:30:30] New patchset: Mwjames; "ParserHook re-factoring, remove static binding, and add unit tests" [mediawiki/extensions/SemanticMediaWiki] (1.9.x-feature) - https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/55064 [14:32:26] Yaron, Dantman brought up some good points. I had considered redoing the routine to parse params first, then construct based on components, but this would be a major rewrite for fixing an admittedly small problem, although the end result would be more elegant in several ways. The core question is 1) should it be restructured as proposed in Dantman's last comment, 2) Kludge the patch just to fix the problem condition (simplest) or 3) Just say y [14:33:14] If I had seen this bug before delving into the problem, I probably would have just changed all the systems to type=post button. [14:34:12] Change abandoned: Mwjames; "Ahh ... F... this doesn't look right either because the files are still marked as delete ... " [mediawiki/extensions/SemanticMediaWiki] (1.9.x-feature) - https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/55064 [14:39:02] Change abandoned: Mwjames; "???? !!! ????" [mediawiki/extensions/SemanticMediaWiki] (1.9.x-feature) - https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/55047 [14:52:24] Hey.. short question about #formlink: I have code like this: | {{#formlink:form=Bookcrossing Book/{{{1}}}|link text=[[File:edit.png|link=|17px]]|popup}}, which worked for some other cases. But not with this particular thing (books), it breaks. When I hover the icon it shows an url like [....]/Special:FormEdit/Bookcrossing_Book/ [14:52:53] could this happen because the pages I use it for contain "-"? Their names are like "Book - Some Author - Some Title" [15:01:34] sven^_: sorry, I can't help right now - SMWCon! Hopefully someone else can, though. [15:10:09] sven^_ - where does the {{{1}}} come from? [15:11:41] if it were from a #show, you might need |link=none to produce the page name instead of a link [15:27:11] Saruman: ah! I think that's the problem, yes. It comes from an #ask with format=template [15:27:16] sec, lemme check it out [15:30:10] Saruman: thanks ;) [15:30:39] one of the problems I solved months or years ago and just don't remember anymore. ;) [16:09:39] New patchset: Mwjames; "Merge commit 'refs/changes/40/53940/1' of https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/mediawiki/extensions/SemanticMediaWiki into testing" [mediawiki/extensions/SemanticMediaWiki] (1.9.x-feature) - https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/55080 [16:13:00] Change abandoned: Mwjames; "F..." [20:56:10] saheb: you don't need an admin account per sé to install SMW [20:58:17] you can run the SMW_setup.php script in the $IP/extensions/SemanticMediawiki/maintenance directory [20:59:16] Dantman - thanks for the advice - it's really helpful. Didn't even think about the links added via hooks! [20:59:47] but if you want to setup via the GUI, use an account with "bureaucrat" permissions to elevate your intended SMW admin to "administrator" status [21:26:47] does anybody have experience using pywikipedia for creating new articles in SMW namespaces? [21:27:36] I wrote sync.py a pywiki script that can synchronize across wikis (available at https://github.com/guaka/pywikibot-extras) but it doesn't work for all namespaces… Template: and Type: works, but Form and Property doesn't
