[12:53:00] Hello FoxFoxstar! If you have any questions, feel free to ask and someone should answer soon. [12:54:59] I can't get page pop ups to work on my site [12:54:59] As in when you hover over a link and get a little box previewing the page [12:55:00] I enabled it from the extensions page but it has had no effect [13:03:57] which wiki [13:06:00] Superherotime.Miraheze.org [13:08:22] looking FoxFoxstar [13:12:22] FoxFoxstar: works for me if I hover over https://superherotime.miraheze.org/wiki/Test, I don't think it works outside of main namespace [13:12:23] [ Test - Super Hero Time & Tokusatsu Wiki ] - superherotime.miraheze.org [13:19:33] Going to that same page I still only get this [13:19:33] https://i.imgur.com/QA5b5nI.png [13:20:55] https://usercontent.irccloud-cdn.com/file/pEZss2JD/Screenshot%202021-04-08%20at%2014.20.49.png [13:21:00] FoxFoxstar: ^ [13:21:22] Huh this is very strange [13:25:08] What do you suppose could explain why I don't see it [13:35:17] try checking browser console [15:11:47] Not familiar with that extension, FoxFoxstar, but if you also have Reference Previews enabled, there may be a conflict with the Popups extension. You may actually prefer the Navigation Popups gadget actually. It's only slightly more difficult to setup as it just involves importing about one or two pages into MediaWiki: namespace, then updating your MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition [21:19:40] Does anyone know how to make new categories? [21:20:36] WikiJS, yeah, just type the name of your new category into your search bar, and click on the redlink when it appears on the search results page (just like any other page) [21:22:21] Categories technically don't even need a page, just add the category to the pages that you want to put in it and it will still work normally without a page [21:22:23] I can’t do it, it just makes a page. [21:22:42] Just add the category to the pages that you want to put in it [21:22:57] dorito, true, but the downside of that is they [[Special:WantedCategories]] will be populated [21:23:11] WikiJS, I'll make a top-level category for you as an example [21:23:28] Just don't look at maintenance reports :P [21:23:28] https://memes.miraheze.org/wiki/Category:Top [21:23:30] [ Category:Top - Memipedia ] - memes.miraheze.org [21:23:52] Ah, alright thanks. [21:25:38] WikiJS, ✅ {{done}} (https://memes.miraheze.org/w/index.php?title=Category:Top&action=history). To add sub-categories to a category, you just add the parent category to the sub-category page (or is it the other way around? I always get that confused.) [21:25:39] [ Revision history of "Category:Top" - Memipedia ] - memes.miraheze.org [21:25:43] dorito, true :) [21:26:46] @WikiJS | Justin Categories are basically just pages that have a list of pages below them, which is why it prompted you to create a new page when you typed in a category name. Generally you'd want to put a description of what the category is for [21:26:55] on the category page [21:27:41] yeah [21:28:39] also, category hard redirects are generally not desired as well because of the way they work. If you want to have a variant title for a category, it's generally preferred to use a soft redirect using whatever soft redirect template you prefer [21:52:54] i highly recommend making a plan for how categories are structured on your wiki [21:53:02] I had a lot of trouble categorizing things in the past [21:53:04] especially media [21:53:53] @Lake, yeah, exactly :) [21:55:50] It's also helpful to categorize redirects based on what they redirect to so that you can find them easier later, even if nobody will ever actually see the redirect page [21:57:45] yep [21:57:49] on my wiki now I have two "master" categories [21:57:58] one for things on the articles themselves (such as topics) [21:58:08] and other for maintenance stuff, such as templates, modules, etc [21:58:35] Put both of those into an even higher top level category for ultimate world domination :P [22:00:02] I actually do that, lol: https://pokemundo.miraheze.org/wiki/Categoria:Pok%C3%A9mundo [22:00:07] [ Categoria:Pokémundo - Pokémundo ] - pokemundo.miraheze.org [22:00:18] 👍 [22:01:00] Now you can do this to find what you need https://pokemundo.miraheze.org/wiki/Especial:%C3%81rvore_de_categorias?target=Categoria%3APok%C3%A9mundo&mode=all&namespaces=&title=Especial%3A%C3%81rvore_de_categorias [22:01:02] [ Árvore de categorias - Pokémundo ] - pokemundo.miraheze.org [22:01:40] I like what you've done to the Refreshed skin, by the way [22:01:41] looks nice [22:05:28] oh thanks :) [22:05:42] tbh i used mainly because of the sticky bar with the "edit" button, lol
